A friend of mine reposted these hot chocolate bombs on Facebook and I knew I would have to try it out myself. I had an extra tub of melting chocolate (I use Baker’s Dipping Chocolate religiously!) in my pantry from making chocolate covered strawberries and I thought I would give it a try. This worked out great! You can fill these with instant coffee, cookie crumbles, peppermint candies, whatever catches your eye!
Hot Chocolate Bombs
I have been seeing this trend pop up all over the internet. It is super easy to make and really fun to do with kids on a cold winter night. I also like that you don't have to make a gazillion of them in bulk in order to use up the ingredients! Try it out!
Servings 4 bombs
Equipment
- silicone mold
Ingredients
- 7 oz. chocolate melts I use Baker's Microwaveable Dipping Milk Chocolate
- 4-6 tbsp. hot cocoa mix
- 20 mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate wafers down to a smooth, creamy texture.
- Coat the inside of the mold with an even layer of chocolate using the back of a spoon. Freeze for 10-15 minutes. Remove chocolate from the mold.
- Warm a plate in the microwave or on a double boiler using a gentle simmer. Place the edges on the plate to gently melt the edges.
- Fill the cavity with the cocoa mix and marshmallows. Seal the edges by touching the seams together, use a little melted chocolate to seal any gaps.
- To serve, heat up 8 oz. of milk and pour over the bomb. Stir to combine and enjoy!
