Trishna’s Crescent Pinwheels

One of my best friends, Trishna, brought this recipe with her to my birthday party a few years ago. Needless to say, it was a HIT! This is the ultimate game day recipe with so much versatility. You could easily make this sweet with peanut butter or chocolate spread. Similarly, you can go the savory route which is what I have done below. My family can eat these by the fistful so I definitely recommend making 3-4 trays worth! Experiment with different flavors if you want and a side of marinara sauce for dipping wouldn’t hurt either!

Ingredients

  • 1 can refridgerated crescent dough (I prefer Pillsbury)
  • 4 oz. flavored cream cheese of your choice (I prefer zesty jalapeño from Philadelphia)
  • 1 tsp. red chili powder
  • 1 c. shredded Mozzarella or Pepper Jack cheese

Method

  1. Unroll the crescent dough and push the perforated parts to fill them. Some stores have a crescent dough sheet if you can purchase that then you can skip this step.
  1. Layer the cream cheese evenly. Sprinkle red chili powder over the top. Top with the shredded cheese. Now this is the slightly difficult part, tightly roll the dough to form a log.
  1. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes. Meanwhile preheat your oven to 375°. After the dough has chilled cut into 1/2 inch rounds. Bake on a silicone mat or parchment paper for 13-15 minutes.
