Red Chili Garlic Chutney

This chutney is the ultimate condiment to have in your fridge. It is super spicy and provides a great zing to chaat foods but it also is great in other applications. I mix a little with cream cheese on a bagel or as a spread in a cheese quesadilla for a quick lunch. It also taste great blended with a little mayo and Giardiniera mix for the best sandwich spread you’ve ever had in life. Mix it with yogurt for a spicy marinade, or drop a spoonful in ranch dressing to go with a slice of pizza! No matter how you want to use it, it tastes great. My only advice…. MAKE A DOUBLE BATCH!

Ingredients

  • 20 large dried red chili peppers
  • 1/2 c. yogurt
  • 1/2 c. garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • Juice of 2 lemons

Method

  • Take the stems off the dried chilies and soak in hot water for 2 hours, reserve 1 cup of the chili water to get the blender going if needed. Add all of your ingredients in a blender and pulse. Stream in a quarter cup of the reserved chili water at a time if your blender needs a little help.
